Washington, D.C.

Jenner and I went to Washington, D.C.!  I won a drawing at work, so they flew me out to D.C. in February for the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) conference.  Jenner and I went a couple of days early so we could have more time for sightseeing.

Our flight was non-stop, but our ticket seats weren't together.  But right before the flight was about to board, they called me up to the desk and asked if I'd be willing to change seats (because I was sitting next to two kiddos and their dad wanted to switch me seats).  I said sure, and because I didn't put up a fuss, they did what they could to get seats together for me and Jenner.  And it worked out!  It was nice to spend our first plane ride together...actually together. :)

Our flight arrived early, so we caught the early train, which means we were at the hotel earlier than we thought - which meant we had time for some sightseeing that first night!  We went to the memorials (which were conveniently located near our hotel).

We went to the Lincoln Memorial, as well as the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial.  (Then we got too cold.)  It was fun to go at night!  Here's me at the Vietnam Memorial:

And us at the Lincoln Memorial:

The next day (President's Day), Jenner and I did a lot of walking around and saw a lot of cool stuff.  We mostly hit some of the Smithsonian Museums.  First we did the National Gallery - I really love the impressionists, and so that was my favorite part.  There was also a new Van Gogh which was pretty great.  Here's me at the National Gallery:

Next we went to the American History Museum.  Here's me with Sesame Street characters (I won't tell you how long I waited to get a picture at this window...it's kind of embarrassing...but this window was VERY popular).

We also poked our heads inside of the Natural History Museum.  Actually all we saw was a few dinosaur bones and the Hope Diamond.  By that time I was all museum-ed out.  But look!  Here's Jenner with dinosaur bones!

And here's Jenner being very happy about the ducks in the background.  You can't really see them in the picture, but I promise they were cute.

We also saw some of the memorials/monuments we didn't see the day before:

Well after that, it was conference sessions for me.  I think Jenner will fill you in on all the adventures he had while I was in the conference.  He saw some pretty awesome stuff!  But guess what, my conference was really great too.  I actually really enjoyed it - but I won't bore you with the details of what I learned.  Just know it was pretty great.

The first day of the conference was also the day we switched hotels.  My work was kind enough to pay for the hotel, and it was much fancier than the first one we stayed at.  Here's what the lobby looked like:

FANCY!!

One of the best parts of the trip was seeing my cohort friends!  I love, love, love these people.  We were able to attend quite a few conference sessions together, and we hung out in the evenings.  It was a lot of fun!

It was a very fun trip!  I'm so glad we were able to go!

We're starting a blog!

Life is a wonderful journey.

So we're going to document our many adventures! We are new to this, but we will try to keep it exciting (emphasis on TRY).  We've had a lot of great adventures so far, such as:

Sledding!  Before we were ever even dating (officially), we went sledding.  The most memorable moment was when Jenner surprised me by hopping on my sled and forcing me down the hill VERY FAST (I don't like fast) and he tried going off the jump, but we ended up just going through the jump instead.

We've been to the symphony several times.  In fact, we are season pass holders!  We like going to plays, shows, (maybe classical symphonies not so much...kinda boring...) and we even went to Jenner's first opera.  He actually enjoyed it.

And in case you didn't know...we're married.  This is a picture from the night Jenner proposed. :)

We got married on August 9, 2013.  Yay!!

And we've had fun times since then, like:

We'll try keep it updated with our new adventures!
